Video Production Workflow
The workflow is simply a recommended sequence of steps that is organised according to priority. Workflows are a way to manage your time and effort so that you can maximise your effort in the least amount of time. Learning shortcuts on Adobe Premiere, for instance, is a way to accelerate your workflow. Coming up with a strong focus for your story before you start the production work is another way.
The benefits of a functional workflow will help reduce stress, improve efficiency, increase output, improve communication, and to monitor your progress to help you stay on track and to meet deadlines.
Deadlines are taken very seriously in our profession. And we perhaps take deadlines more seriously than most classes. Consistently missing deadlines isn’t good for your grades, nor your career. Don’t make every project a crisis – set priorities and accomplish what you need to do in the order of your priority. Even if your plan isn’t perfect, you’ll still achieve better results than having no plan, or no focus at all.
The production workflow will make a huge difference, but be ready to adapt to changes quickly when things change (and they will).
